Professional narrative

Professor Mansoor Khan is a consultant trauma and general surgeon, currently Regional Medical Director for Iqarus—the conflict and post-conflict delivery arm of International SOS—overseeing clinical governance, patient care standards, CPD, protocols, audits and multi-region harmonisation. He is Honorary Professor of General Surgery at Brighton & Sussex Medical School and Visiting Professor of Security Science and Technology at Imperial College London.

A veteran of the Royal Navy, he rose to Surgeon Commander after more than twenty years’ service, including NATO deployments in the Baltic and North Sea, the Northern Arabian Gulf, the 2003 Gulf War, Afghanistan 2011, 2013 and 2014, and a UN mission in South Sudan. Following FRCS (2010), he completed a high-volume tour at Camp Bastion and a Trauma Critical Care Fellowship at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center (Baltimore), before appointment as Consultant General Surgeon in the UK Defence Medical Services. His military team received the Military Civilian Health Partnership Team of the Year (2014).

Alongside clinical leadership, Professor Khan directs and examines internationally renowned trauma courses (including DSTS at the Royal College of Surgeons of England), contributes to motorsport trauma (including Abu Dhabi events), and advises across industry, MedTech and sustainability. He has published extensively and secured over £5 million in research grants.
